You carry your own light

When you walk into the darkness

The glow softly irradiates to create

An incandescent circle around you

That is all you are responsible for

You can’t reach the totality of the darkness

You aren’t created to


Join the multitude of warmth and brightness

Add your beam to multiply and shine

You are part of the throng

Raise your illumination high

Watch it sparkle and dance with its companions

See where your light goes and follow it 


For as we know


Light is the burden

Light is the calling

Light is the hope


Therefore

Stay luminous

I fully admit that I am a black and white kind of person. Someone who functions well with cause and effect and who is deeply justice-oriented in all things. Which in my mind means that x + y = z every time. If a = b x c, then it does. As much as I don't like math, numbers will turn out the same result every time. You can mess with the numbers all you want but they will not come out differently than their inherent value within the equation. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't work that way with people. Summer 2008 10 years is a long  time. In 10 years, pop culture is revamped and "current" fashion goes out of style. In 10 years, wars are fought, won, and lost. In 10 years, a new generation is born while another passes away. In 10 years, a person can go from being a student to being an adult, whatever that means... In 10 years, technology grows by numerous leaps and bounds that it's easy to forget what it was like before. In 10 years, a country could be formed and another fall apart because of war, natural disasters, politics, etc. In 10 years, the best and worst things could happen as well as everything in between. In 10 years, ____________ fill in the blank! There's much that happens both personally and globally. ::thestrals and tragedy::

What is a thestral? It is a breed of winged horse with a skeletal body, a face of reptilian features, and wide leather bat-like wings. They are very rare and are found in the world of Harry Potter. They are mistaken for omens of aggression and misfortune because they can only be seen by those who have witnessed death at least once as Luna Lovegood explains. Seeing and experiencing some of the deepest tragedies and most broken areas of our world is no small thing. There are other ways to experience tragedy besides death such as addiction, loneliness, abandonment, abuse, trauma, racism, and more. We don't have thestrals in our world but you recognize someone who can also see one. You've experienced tragedy. You know what it means to fight for your right to live.
